Chapter 82
Danyal nods his head and quickly takes care of the second screw. When it too falls to the ground, he jiggles the lock from the door, wedging his keys to get the bolt to slide open.
With a satisfying click, he turns to me again. "And the door is open."
Helping him stand back up, I kiss him sweetly on the lips. "Thank you."
He smiles and kisses me again, his lips lingering longer than mine. "You're welcome."
When my hand reaches the door, I don't hesitate in opening it. The hinges creak and the wood crackles as sunlight fills the hall. Dust swims in the air and hangs off the white sheeted furniture.
I take slow steps down the hall, remembering the thousands of times my father chased me in this very path.
