My popularity continued to climb, and Jayden was visibly pleased with the value I brought him. Night after night, he would press me beneath him, demanding me again and again.
I feigned reluctance, pretending to resist.
By the third night, Jayden's patience finally snapped. He was about to slam the door and leave, but I got there first, kneeling before him.
"Jayden, don't be angry. It was Ms. Green who told me that five years ago, you killed an actress for her. Are you going to do the same to me?"
My voice trembled, tears welling in my eyes as I spoke.
Jayden softened his tone. "You fool, that was ages ago. Is it really worth being afraid of?"
He tucked the loose strands of my hair behind my ear. "Besides, who could even compare to you now?"
I buried my face in his chest, silently letting my tears fall.
Unbeknownst to him, the voice recorder under the bed had captured every word of our conversation.
