His body had been badly injured. His throat had been poisoned mute, he'd been blinded, and his hands and feet were crippled.
He crawled helplessly across the ground.
When Mom brought me there, Dad was holding a baseball bat, repeatedly smashing Duncan's only remaining good leg.
Duncan didn't even have the strength to scream in pain.

The moment Dad saw me, he panicked and put away the blood-stained bat.
Then, he shot Mom an irritated glance. "You brought Jamie to a place like this without even telling me? What if you scared him?"
Mom snapped at him, just as displeased. "Jamie requested this. And I've been reflecting as well. Back then, all we cared about was protecting Jamie, but we never taught him how to protect himself. Otherwise, how could he have been abused for so many years?"
