Zoey bawled her eyes out, her body trembling. It was clear that she'd suffered a lot in the labor camp, but none of it could compare to what Roxanne had gone through.
Sensing Callum's lack of response, Zoey continued begging and weeping. However, when she finally noticed something was off about his prolonged silence, she got up.
That was when she saw the cold sweat on his forehead. His face twisted in pain, while Roxanne's photo remained tight in his grasp.
Only then did Zoey realize his gastritis had flared up again.
When Roxanne left, she didn't leave anything behind for Callum to remember her by. If not for the newspaper's front-page coverage of her farewell party, he wouldn't even have her photo. He had cut out her photo from that paper and kept it close, reliving memories every day.
