"I'm not kidding. Do you know how many guys had a massive crush on you all through middle school, high school, and even college? They were all dying to marry you," Jack said.
"Stop talking nonsense!" Phoebe gave him a sharp look, but his exaggeratedly relaxed expression made her laugh despite herself.
She knew he was trying to change the subject, to keep her from worrying too much about his injury.
"What about you? Did you feel the same way?" She finally couldn't resist asking.
Jack nodded firmly.
