It turned out Ollie had already learned from Tristan which floor Quintis and Emily were staying on, and now he was barreling up in the elevator, intent on murder.
"Mrs. Lycan, Mr. Lycan asked you not to go anywhere," the personal secretary warned hurriedly. Emily didn't respond, but an inexplicable unease pricked at her, as if something terrible were about to happen.
A gunshot rang out. A bloody bullet hole appeared on the secretary's forehead. He slumped to the floor in a slow, crimson collapse.
Emily flinched but did not panic. She turned calmly toward the darkened hall where the shot came from.
"Freeze!" A roar broke the silence, followed by footsteps pounding closer. The first thing that stepped into view was Ollie's face, distorted with a devilish grin.
Emily was startled. She forced herself to stay composed as she asked, "Who are you?"
Ollie looked her up and down without answering. Instead, he asked, "What's your relationship with Jack?"
