Chapter 53
The next morning was Bethany's day off, so she slept in until the afternoon.
Her throat felt unbearably sore as soon as she woke up. She wondered if she might have caught a cold.
When Jane saw that Bethany was finally awake, she quickly reheated the food she'd prepared earlier.
"Mrs. Brennan, I made some chicken soup for you. Here, have some. I'll reheat the rest of your meal in the meantime."
Bethany didn't see Silas in the dining room.
Noticing Bethany look around, Jane smiled and said, "Mr. Brennan went to work. He told me not to wake you."
Bethany took a sip of the soup. "I see."
She had wanted to rest at home for the rest of the day, but she received a call from the nursing home.
It was about Sarah, so Bethany quickly got dressed, grabbed her car keys, and left in a hurry.
