Chapter 20
Nathan was dragged out of the wedding venue by security. The heavy doors slammed shut behind him with a deafening thud, cutting off the sounds of the celebration inside.
Standing outside, he could still hear the faint echoes of the ceremony—the officiant announcing the exchange of rings, the guests' laughter, and the soft kiss that shattered his heart.
His chest tightened, leaving him gasping for air. He threw himself against the door and pounded it desperately as he shouted, "Open the door! Please, open the door! Anna, don't marry him! Please don't marry him!"
But the people inside seemed oblivious to his cries, or maybe no one cared enough to answer. The wedding continued. The sounds of joy, laughter, and cheers sliced through him like daggers.
With his forehead pressed against the cold door, tears streamed down his face uncontrollably. He'd never imagined he would find himself begging for forgiveness.
