Chapter 232
Jeremy glanced down at the message on his phone. When he looked up again, Melody had already turned her back to him.
The gloominess on his face became more pronounced, and his thoughts grew restless once more.
However, when he thought of her message saying she was scared and remembered how her eyes were red from crying earlier, his emotions settled a little.
Harold had said that when Melody was at her most helpless, she'd think of him because she depended on him.
Perhaps it was his sense of responsibility as a doctor, but Jeremy had always been patient with people who depended on him.
His gaze darkened slightly, but nevertheless, he soon followed Melody as she made her way inside.
Melody knew Jeremy was following her, but she didn't stop walking. When she opened the door, a soft whining sound came from inside.
It was Echo.
She had been out all day, and Echo had only had one meal. It was now lying pitifully on the floor, watching her.
Melody immediately felt a pang of sympathy.
