Chapter 396
The open air parking lot was dim, and the inside of the car was even darker. The only sound was their tangled breathing.
Melody was pressed against Jeremy's chest, with her ear resting over his heart. She could hear his rapid heartbeat too. It was a sharp contrast to the usual cool scent on his body.
"Let go of me," she rasped, breathless and hoarse.
But Jeremy didn't move. Instead, he reached for her bag, pulled out her phone, and removed himself from the blocked list. "Blocking people is immature," he said. "You'll end up missing things that matter."
He finally let her go, but when he saw the small cut on her lip—clearly from the kiss—his eyes darkened. He reached out to touch her face, but Melody instinctively pulled away.
His hand hesitated in midair for a moment before falling back down, and his expression settled back into its usual calm. "I was planning to tell you about Jamie and Calista days ago," he said. "You're the one who wasted time."
