Chapter 4 Blind Date
Denise went upstairs.
Amanda and her daughter, Louise Boldwin, looked at each other in the living room.
Louise reprimanded, "Who was it that went upstairs just now? You just let outsiders in so casually?"
The nanny explained, "That's Denise."
Amanda stood up. "What did you say? Denise? How did she come back so quickly?"
Denise pushed the door of the study room and went in, interrupting Russell Boldwin, who was on the phone. He was annoyed at first, but when he saw that it was his eldest daughter who he had been waiting so long, his look suddenly changed into surprise, and he hung up the phone.
"When did you come back? Why didn't you notify me in advance? I will ask the kitchen to prepare your favorite dishes."
Denise sat on the sofa with a tired look and said, "There's no need to do that. I can't afford the Boldwin family's food. Why don't you just talk about business? Why do you want me to come back?"
The smile on Russell's face was a little awkward. His daughter, whom he had not seen for seven years, had changed, even the way she talked to him had changed. If it weren't for Denise still having a certain use for him now, he would have scolded her long ago.
He put on the look of a loving father. "You are still alive. I'm very happy. My only wish now is your marriage."
In Denise's eyes, Russell's current look was extremely hypocritical.
Seven years ago, everyone was sure that Denise was dead.
And a few months ago, she deliberately posted the news to let Russell know that she was still alive. After that, he kept calling and only recently urged her to come back.
She knew what Russell was scheming again.
But at that time, it was unsure who would be schemed.
"I kept dreaming about your dead mother all these years. She blamed me for not taking good care of you. Now that you are still alive, I just want to settle down on your marriage. Don't worry. I will definitely find a better man than Walter for you." Russell was full of kindness.
But he didn't know that those greedy eyes had betrayed him.
"A better man than Walter?"
"Certainly."
A hint of cunning flashed in Denise's eyes. "Okay, it's better to see him tonight. What do you think?"
Russell was excited. He didn't expect Denise to agree so readily. He was more certain that Denise must have had a bad life abroad. In that way, he could solve her better.
Russell thought there would be no mistakes at that time.
"Okay, I will arrange it right away."
Denise got up and said her luggage was at the hotel, so she wouldn't stay at the Boldwin family's house. She didn't expect Louise to block her way when she went downstairs.
"Denise, I really didn't expect that you would really come back alive." Louise looked at her, full of jealousy.
Louise didn't know why Denise became more and more beautiful in the past seven years.
Denise said with a smile, "Yes, of course, I'm not dead. Otherwise, wouldn't the property that belongs to me be taken away by you?"
Louise was angry and thought the property that was about to be acquired was gone. But then she mocked again. "You are just a divorced woman who was abandoned by a man. Do you think you were still a noble girl back then? Stop pretending in front of me."
Feeling annoyed, Denise slapped her.
"No matter if I'm a divorced woman or a noble girl, I'm still your elder sister. Hasn't your mother taught you how to be a good person all these years?"
