Grace pinched Mitch hard, looking really annoyed. "Oh, come on, old man, stop crying like it's the end of the world. Our daughter isn't dead, you know!"
Mitch looked genuinely upset. "Is it wrong for me to cry when our daughter is hurt this bad?"
Grace was exasperated. "All you ever do is cry. Why don't you man up and face the person who hurt our daughter?"
"Violence isn't the answer. We need to talk through our problems. And if that fails, we can always get the police involved."
Grace waved off his reasoning. "Enough with your preaching."
Stella attempted to calm things down. "Mom, Dad, I'm fine, really. Stop arguing, please."
This, however, only aggravated Grace further. "Fine? You can't even stand up, stuck in bed unable to move, and you say you're fine?"
Stella immediately regretted her interjection, realizing she should have let her parents continue their never-ending argument. They had been doing it for years without any real fallout.
