Chapter 136
Louise didn't try to explain anything as the two of them kept staring at her. She just rubbed her face and said, "Been kinda swamped lately. Probably just tired."
She really was tired, but not because of work.
Meanwhile, not far off, in the next private room, Lucas and Grace had just taken their seats.
"Just us?" Grace paused at the doorway, a little hesitant. "My stomach's acting up today. Can't eat anything too spicy."
She had no clue why Lucas called her here and honestly had one foot out the door already.
Lucas stepped in without a rush, took off his coat and hung it over the chair. "Heard you're heading to Ashbourne. Not thinking of staying?"
"I am," Grace replied as she slowly sat down. She did want to stay.
Across from her, Lucas gave a dry chuckle - amused by how quickly she adapted, and probably by her ambition too.
Back in Louise's room, things were already buzzing. The waiter had just dropped off some beer, and Clara and Ava wasted no time cracking them open.
