Chapter 30
Louise let out a sigh, her tone tinged with frustration. "UL's attitude is seriously confusing. I thought we had a good shot at landing this deal, but after talking all morning, it felt like Mr. Harper had something else on his mind."
This wasn't just a project the Bennetts had their eyes on-Edgar's team had also sent people to pitch. So when she got a call from Mr. Harper, she honestly thought she might have a real chance. But nope, all the effort they put in got brushed off in the meeting.
There was still another round of talks scheduled for the afternoon, but Louise wasn't feeling too hopeful anymore. She twisted the cap of her water bottle, forced a dry smile, and said half-jokingly, "If only we could figure out what UL really wants."
Dominic looked into the distance and said calmly, "I've dealt with Mr. Harper before. The more interested he is, the more he tries to act indifferent. If you back off now, you're falling right into his trap."
"Really?" Her eyes lit up with surprise. S
