Although Minerva didn't regret her past relationship, she struggled to find the words when it came to her own story.
She didn't know how to describe the relationship, especially not in front of Gerald.
She had spent nearly six years with Frederick. She had once truly believed they would eventually get married. But everything fell apart when he jumped to conclusions, believing the worst of her without hearing her out.
Worse still, he had cheated on her—right in front of her. It sounded like something out of a tragic movie, but it had been her reality.
Minerva hesitated, unsure of where to begin.
"If talking about it will only make you feel worse, then don't. Minerva, I just want you to be happy," Gerald said gently.
His words brought a sudden sting to her eyes.
She hadn't planned to say anything. But something in his voice gave her the courage to speak.
