Chapter 22

Deborah perked up and toured around the self-built house with enthusiasm. Though the house was not large, it was arranged very cozily. The kitchen had a rural-style clay stove that required firewood to burn. However, the stove top was decorated uniquely with handmade drawings that were quite lovely. Despite its small size, the house had everything needed for daily living. On the living room walls hung numerous landscape paintings, which her father said were all painted by her mother. Deborah admired the paintings on the wall with a smile, realizing that her mother had so much talent that she could even become a painter! However, she found the painting style to be somewhat familiar. She stood in front of the painting, stroking her chin, pondering. Paislee walked out and asked, "Is it too hot? I will turn on the air conditioner for you." Deborah nodded gently and agreed as it was the height of summer and it was truly uncomfortable without air conditioning. Unfazed, she continued to tour
