Instincts were very scary things.
Cillian's body moved before he realized it.
The very next second, a harp pain, akin to being stabbed, radiated up his back. He hissed and grimaced, but kept Bellatrix close, shielding her unconscious body as the plank fell down, hitting his back and crashing to the floor.
It didn't take long for Cillian to realize that the plank had hit him.
His back was in excruciating pain, and when he moved, it felt like a thousand needles were stabbing him.
"Fuck," He swore, his breath laboured.
However, despite the pain, he couldn't afford to dwell on it. Right now, he needed to get Bellatrix out of the building. That was the only thought that kept playing over and over in his head.
So, with his arms wrapped around her, Cillian turned and resumed his journey, albeit slower.
He could feel blood pooling down his back, could feel the wetness of his clothes and the pain. But he didn't care.
Right now, nothing mattered but Bellatrix.
