Chapter 6
"I'm not angry," Norah said as she looked at Antonio with a serious expression.
After a pause, seemingly worried he wouldn't believe her, she added, "I just caught a cold recently. I didn't want to risk infecting you, so I didn't visit you."
"How did you catch a cold? Did you get a chill? Is it serious?" Antonio asked with concern.
Even after hearing her explanation, he didn't show any signs of backing off. Instead, he quickly pulled out his phone and began typing. "The weather's been colder lately. Maybe you don't have enough warm clothes. I'll have someone bring you some new clothes for the season."
His actions were so quick that Norah didn't even have time to stop him. But then she decided to let it be. If he wanted to buy things, he could do it. She wouldn't use them anyway. When the time came, she would just leave them behind for his beloved Isabella.
With that thought in mind, she didn't dwell on that matter. "I'm fine. You should just take care of yourself. Your injuries haven't fully healed. Go back to the hospital."
Though her words sounded like concern, her face remained neutral, which made it seem as if she were more focused on getting him to leave.
Antonio felt that something was wrong, but he didn't understand why. He felt that maybe he had misinterpreted her actions.
He stood up, ready to leave. But when he turned around and saw that Norah was still lying on the bed, he stopped. With a slight hint of grievance, he said, "If you're not coming with me, then I won't go."
After a brief standoff, Norah sighed in resignation. She got up and changed out of her pajamas before heading downstairs with him.
At the hospital, Antonio remembered her cold and immediately called for a doctor. After receiving the reassuring news that it wasn't serious and that she just needed rest, he finally relaxed.
Since he was still recovering from his own injuries, he had to stay in the hospital for several more days.
During that time, he didn't leave Norah's side. He followed wherever she went. Even when she went to the bathroom, he waited outside.
Every time the hospital staff saw one of them, they would look around, almost expecting to see the other nearby. It was impossible for them not to comment on it.
"Mr. Emerson and Ms. Sandoval's relationship is really great. I wish I could find a boyfriend who treats me like that."
"Who doesn't want that? Maybe you should go to sleep. Everything you want can be found in your dreams."
Norah overheard the chatter, but it didn't stir any feelings in her.
They envied her? She and Antonio looked like they were in love?
Only she knew the truth. It was all an illusion. Antonio wasn't clinging to her because he truly loved her. He was simply worried about more complications before the wedding since she had been acting strangely lately.
After all, if the wedding couldn't go smoothly, Norah might end up pestering Sheldon again. In that case, how could Antonio's beloved Isabella ever find happiness?
A few more days passed, and Antonio finally recovered enough to leave the hospital.
As they got into the car, his phone rang. It was a call from Hayden. "Tony, there's a meteor shower tonight. How about you and Norah join us for a little get-together?"
A meteor shower wasn't something that happened often, and since Hayden had invited both him and Norah, Antonio didn't hesitate to agree.
Norah didn't want to go but was afraid of him noticing something was off, so she decided to join him.
When they arrived, Norah was surprised to see that it wasn't just Antonio's friends there, but Isabella as well.
The moment she saw Isabella, she immediately sensed Antonio's burst of joy, but it was quickly concealed. He masked his expression, making it hard for anyone to notice how much he cared for Isabella.
As night fell, the sky filled with stars.
Suddenly, a meteor streaked across the sky, followed by more and more. The group watching the stars, including couples out on dates, couldn't help but exclaim in wonder.
After a brief moment of excitement, everyone quickly closed their eyes to make wishes.
Just then, a street vendor with a cart came through the crowd. "Would you like to buy a wishing bottle? I can help you hang it on a tree. Wishes written on the paper under shooting stars have a higher chance of coming true."
