Chapter 43
Aaron’s POV
The walk back to the pack house is awful.
For me, at least. Though, from the smiles and relieved laughter surrounding me, I don’t think the pack shares my emotions.
Glancing to the side for the hundredth time, I take in Beth. She’s walking a few feet away from me…So close, and yet so far. But, did I really expect anything different?
Even though we had managed to eliminate any and all threats to my mate, and my wolf is calm, truly calm, for the first time since I heard about Beth’s past, doesn’t mean that the world is right again.
Well, my world isn’t.
I still have two things to deal with; one, making me feel extremely guilty. The other… Well, I don’t know how I feel.
Sad? Angry? Afraid?
A combination of all three?
What I’m worrying about right now, is that Beth tried to run away. Didn’t she know that I would protect her? That I wouldn’t let anyone in my pack
