Suddenly, the darkness crept up on my mind again and I held Diana closer, breathing in her warm, sunny scent. She grinned playfully before pushing me away, saying she needed to get something to eat. I let her go, relishing the sight of her red hair dancing as she walked out. I suddenly realized there was a chance Diana and I would be apart during the war. I was going to be in the thick of danger, and there was no way I was letting my mate near a warzone. Even if I had to handcuff her and lock her up, I wasn't going to risk her life.
