Chapter 813 Have I Been Here Before?

‘Why?’ Zachary had only ever felt this way with Charlotte! Why did he feel this way about a wh*re? ‘No! Only Charlotte is worthy of sparking this kind of affection in me! Sotiria Green does not deserve it! No woman in this world, except that woman, deserves it!’ Zachary icily pushed Sotiria’s lips away from his face at the thought of this. “Go away! Miss Green, have some self-respect!” Sotiria slowly awoke. At first, she felt a throbbing pain on her cheek and a severe headache. Then she realized that she was sleeping on a couch. She looked around. This was a large 1,000 square meter living room. The interior was contemporarily luxurious. The white marble spiral staircase that connected the first floor to the second floor felt like a relic from a fairytale. ‘Whose house is this? It’s beautiful! Wait! Have I been here before? Before I lost my memories? Why does everything in this home feel so familiar?’ “You’re awake, Miss Green.” The maid, Janet Plain, emerged from the kitchen. She smiled at Sotiria with appropriate courtesy. Sotiria smiled back at her. “Hello, where am I?” “This is Mr. Connor’s home, of course. Mr. Connor carried you back here today, around noon. You were having a fever at the time and not in your right mind. Mr. Connor had Dr. Stewart give you medicine, and your temperature went down. You’ve slept the entire afternoon away.” The gentle maid explained patiently. Sotiria was immediately reminded of the scene prior to her unconsciousness. The corners of her lips curled into a smirk. ‘Zachary! So it was him!’ Janet shook her head. “Since you’re awake, it’s time for you to go home. Mr. Connor is upstairs reading a book. You shouldn’t disturb him. I’ll give him a message when he comes down for his meal. You can leave on your own.” ‘What? Why do I get this feeling that this maid doesn’t really want me here?’ Sotiria rubbed her heavy eyes as she got up from the couch. “Don’t worry. I never wanted to be in his house anyway. Have you forgotten that he carried me here?” The maid shook her head and didn’t say another word. Sotiria shrugged awkwardly. “Uh… I’d like to ask you a question before I leave. Have we met before? As in, have I been at Mr. Connor’s home before?” “I’ve certainly never seen you, but I’ve heard of your great name.” Janet stared at Sotiria with a weird look in her eyes. “As for whether you’ve ever been in Mr. Connor’s home, I can tell you with utmost certainty that you’ve never been here before. Because, knowing Mr. Connor’s personality and way of dealing with things, he would never have brought a woman like you home. This was a purely unforeseen circumstance.” ‘Well… Fine!’ Sotiria curled her lips irritably. However, she could sense that she had been there before and felt that this particular maid was very familiar to her too. “Alright then. I won’t bother you anymore.” Sotiria turned around and left. Just as she was about to arrive at the door, she heard heavy footsteps from the spiral staircase. Then, a clear, enticing voice rang aloud in an indifferent tone. “I’ve saved your life and preserved your reputation. And you’re leaving without even thanking me?”
