Annie opened the door.
It was one of those freezing nights in Rivenshore, bitterly cold. Sebastian stood at the door in just a thin coat-obviously a last-minute trip.
Annie eyed him briefly, then said softly, "Ms. Grace's already gone to bed. Maybe come back tomorrow?"
But Sebastian didn't budge. "I'll wait in the living room till she wakes up."
Annie hesitated, like she wanted to say something but didn't.
Then Elaria appeared. She wore a cozy cotton robe, her long black hair loosely falling around her shoulders. There was a hint of fatigue on her face. She looked at Sebastian for a few quiet seconds before finally saying, "Come on in."
Sebastian followed her into the living room.
Annie made them a cup of tea, then went off to her room.
Under the dim lights, Sebastian stared at Elaria for a long time before murmuring, "She doesn't have much longer. Serena... only has three months left."
