I stood in the dimly lit hallway, waiting for my moment to walk down the aisle. My nerves were strung so tightly that I felt as though they might snap.
I had just watched Elizabeth depart, arm in arm with Michael who was Alexander’s best man. She looked absolutely stunning in her baby-blue dress, her hair and makeup done to perfection.
Now, it was my turn.
My father stood beside me, his hand resting gently on my back in a comforting gesture. The butterflies in my stomach were so intense they felt more like wild, fluttering birds, and for a moment, I worried I might be sick.
The last time I’d done this—marrying David in the original timeline—I had been excited and love-struck. But this... this was entirely different.
My feelings were a storm of intensity, overwhelming and raw. It unsettled me to have such a strong reaction to a wedding that wasn’t supposed to be about love.
