"The fact that you aren’t playing his game only helps you," Elizabeth assured me.
“I’m glad you think so, but I find it hard to believe,” I said.
Elizabeth took a sip of her drink.
The waiter had cleared our plates when we finished our food. Now, we were just sharing a few drinks as we talked. I was surprised by how invested Elizabeth seemed in my wellbeing.
I hadn’t expected to make a new friend so quickly, and I was relieved to have someone to talk to. Everything with David was so much more difficult than I thought it would be.
"I don’t know if you use social media, but I do, and many people have made their support for you clear. David is only making a fool of himself by continuing on this way."
"That’s sad," I said softly. "I wish he would just move on."
