Chapter 19 I'm Asking You To Kneel, Do You Not Understand The Human Language?

“Do you have to degrade yourself like this?” William strode over to her and grabbed her wrist. “Charles likes Leah and not you. There’s nothing you can do!” “I know Mr. Harris likes your sister. You don’t have to tell me again.” Sophia struggled but she could not escape his grip. “Please let go. Stop hindering my work.” There were flashing lights at the end of the corridor. When she turned around, she did not see anything. Perhaps she was seeing things since she did not sleep well. William did not let go of her hand. On the contrary, he grabbed her even tighter. “Do you like Charles that much? You like him so much that you’re willing to be a janitor just to stay by his side?” “Is me liking him any of your business?” A smile appeared on Sophia’s face. “Even if I like you, do you want to be with a murderer who wanted to kill your little sister?” William pressed his lips together. He let go of her. “Why did you run your car over Leah? Charles is engaged to you. Leah wouldn’t affect you two.” “No reason. I just wanted to.” Sophia lowered her gaze and her voice was super soft. She ran over Leah in her car? Heh, was he sure that it was her car that ran over Leah and not Leah who ran into her car? “How can you be so evil?” William asked. “You’re Leah’s best friend. You should know that as a dancer, her favorite thing to do is dance. You ruined her entire life by breaking her leg! Do you know how much pain she was in for these past two years?” Sophia’s expression was indifferent. “What do I have to do with her pain? I’m an evil person and I love seeing my friend in pain. The more she suffers, the happier I’ll be.” Did Leah suffer as much as she did in prison? William could not believe his ears when Sophia said those words. She was insolent back then, but she was not heartless. Was this her true self? “Sophia, Mr. Jones is a guest. How can you talk to a guest like this?” The person in charge came over. “Kneel. Apologize to Mr. Jones.” Sophia lowered her head and looked at the floor. She did not move. “I asked you to kneel. Do you not understand human language?” The person in charge raised his voice. Sophia licked her dried lips and knelt on the floor. She looked at her reflection on the floor. “I’m sorry, Mr. Jones.” The floor was just mopped and the water had not dried yet. She knelt on the floor and the water drenched her uniform instantly. Her legs were cold. Plus, combining with the pain from kneeling outside a few days before, she was in excruciating pain. William looked at her while lowering his gaze. He did not say anything. A few guests passed by and they looked at Sophia. A woman with a baby face could not stand this anymore. She walked over while frowning. “What’s going on? It’s the 21st century. Why are you still asking people to kneel?” She did not wait for William or Sophia to say anything. She helped Sophia up immediately. “Get up! Are you going to kneel just because they tell you to? Are you an idiot?” “Clara! Stop meddling!” A man walked over and pulled her away. Then, he turned around and said to William, “My friend just arrived in B City. She doesn’t know anything. Please don’t blame her, Mr. Jones. I’ll take her away now.” “I’m not going! He’s a man! How can he bully a woman?” Clara Robertson placed her hands on her hips and stood in front of Sophia. The man started to panic, but he could not make her leave no matter what. “Thank you.” Sophia pushed her away gently. “I’m fine. Go have fun with your friends.” The woman was helping her out of kindness. She could not cause any trouble for her. “See, she said it’s fine. Why are you still trying to butt in? Let’s go! Hurry!” The man and another woman pulled Clare away forcefully. Clara turned around and yelled at her. “I’m in Room 4502. Look for me if you’re in trouble!” Sophia smiled and nodded. When she turned around, the curl on her lips was gone. “I won’t stop you if you want to court disaster.” William’s expression looked complicated when he saw her changing her expression in an instant. He took out a tube of ointment and handed it to her. She knelt there for so long. There must be a lot of bruises on her knees. He asked his friend to bring this ointment from overseas. Sophia did not look at the ointment. She pushed it back to him. “It’s my business if I want to court disaster. It’s none of your business. I don’t need you to look after me.”
