The atmosphere in the grand dining room turned to ice.
Ethan glanced at Simon, defeated once again, and silently shook his head. He had no intention of speaking up. He had already done that earlier and wasn't planning on doing it again.
However, Lydia was furious. Just as she was about to speak up, a gentle tug on her sleeve stopped her. She turned to see Ethan shaking his head subtly—signaling her to stay quiet.
Though still seething, she obeyed, glaring daggers at Sam instead.
After all, she knew her son's capabilities better than Simon ever could. Without Ethan, they wouldn't even be able to manage their current subsidiaries, and they would still be living off the family trust. Yet Simon naively thought it was all his doing.
But Ethan had told Lydia to let Simon believe that. It would help conceal Ethan's true abilities, keeping Sam and William off guard.
