Chapter 4

Tessa leaned against the wall and shook her head. A second later, a sharp pain twisted through her stomach, and she stumbled forward. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Benedict holding Tracy in his arms, and their lips were almost touching. She'd known for a while now. So why did it still hurt so much? Noticing something was wrong, Alexis quickly rushed over to steady her. "Benedict…" Tessa shook her head, fighting through the pain as she pulled Alexis away. "It's no use. Let's just go to the hospital." With a sigh, Alexis helped her into the car. Back in the private room, a flicker of calculation flashed through Tracy's eyes. Benedict had been about to chase after Tessa. She immediately stopped him, claiming she felt dizzy. Once she got him into the car, her voice turned soft and flirty. "Benedict, feel my heartbeat. Isn't it racing?" Benedict's throat bobbed. He knew she was trying to seduce him, but he kissed her anyway. Just as things were heating up, his phone rang. Tessa's name lit up on the screen, but Tracy declined the call. "Benedict, don't stop…" He smiled indulgently. "You're such a tease." At the hospital, Alexis frowned. "You had a miscarriage, but you still went drinking? Do you have a death wish? If it weren't for Benedict, this wouldn't have happened! "I'll call him and ask him to get over here now to apologize!" She picked Tessa's phone up and dialed again. Tessa knew Alexis meant well. "I'm fine now. I know I messed up. I won't drink again. "Don't bother. He won't answer." But three seconds later, the call connected. Tessa looked surprised. Alexis remarked, "At least he has a little conscience—" Before she could finish, the sound of heavy breathing came through the phone. "Benedict, you really can't get enough of me, can you? You only want my body, don't you?" His voice was rough. "Yeah. I can't get enough of you." The moans only got louder. Alexis hung up in a fury. "Disgusting! Those two are trash!" Tessa's face stayed calm. "Trash with trash. It makes sense." Elsewhere, Tracy glanced at the screen behind Benedict and saw the call had ended. She smirked triumphantly, thinking Benedict could only belong to her. So what if they'd dated for eight years? He had stopped loving Tessa a long time ago. She was going to be his wife, standing proudly by his side. Tessa spent a week in the hospital. Benedict didn't call her once, but Tracy couldn't stop messaging her. The entire week, Benedict stayed home with her. They were wrapped up in each other. "Tessa, the bed you picked is good. We went at it all night, and it didn't even collapse. "Oh, and that couch you chose as well. Why is Benedict always so horny? He wants me everywhere, all the time. "Oh, right, I forgot. You must've failed at doing your job as a girlfriend and couldn't keep him satisfied, huh?" Tessa shut her eyes. Just one more week, and she could finally leave. When she was discharged, she walked up to the front door of the villa. She typed in the code a few times, but it kept saying the code was incorrect. Benedict opened the door, annoyed. "Why didn't you let me know you were coming?" "Are you afraid I'd walk in on something I'm not supposed to see?" she asked. "Besides, why'd you change the passcode?" His eyes darted around. "It's Tracy's birthday. She begged me to change it." Her birthday? He always said he treated Tracy like a little sister, but he betrayed her again and again. She didn't respond. She stepped inside and realized just how much the place had changed in just one week. It didn't feel like her home anymore. It felt like his and Tracy's. Before she could even say anything, he beat her to it. "Tessa, enough with the drama. You're too old to be pulling the runaway act. When you barged into that party the other night, I let it slide." So he had no idea she'd been hospitalized and thought she was just throwing a tantrum. There was a time when he'd treasured her and told her that she was the only woman he'd ever loved. He promised her that he would always stay by her side. Those heartfelt promises flashed through her mind, overlapping with the cold stranger in front of her now. Seeing that she didn't respond, he grew impatient and grabbed her arm. "Why aren't you saying anything? "Are you still mad at Tracy? She's young and immature. You seriously want to hold that against her?" She pushed down her emotions. Just as she was about to speak, her phone rang. It was Edison. His tone was light. "Tessa, I'll come pick you up in Juville next week." She was caught off guard and pulled her arm free from Benedict's grip, walking off to the side. "I'll be fine. I'll go on my own." Edison chuckled. "I just can't wait to see you." She froze, and the call ended. Benedict frowned. "Where are you going?"
