David Brooks glanced at the final signature on the agreement and took a quick look. "Alright, we’ve got two copies—one for you, one for Mr. Blake. Once both signatures are in place, it’s officially valid." "There’s just one last step: you and Mr. Blake need to head to the registry office together to finalize the divorce. When would that work for you?" "The registry's closed on weekends, so it’ll have to be next week," Alice said after a short pause, eyes lowered. "Let's go with Friday." She’d be back at work on Monday after quite a long break, and a lot had piled up. The first few days were sure to be non-stop, and taking time off again right away wouldn't look great. David didn’t object. "Okay, I’ll let Mr. Blake know." With that sorted, David made no effort to prolong the visit and headed out without another word. Alice stared at the document in her hands, feelings all over the place. She sat quietly in the coffee shop for a while before carefully folding the agreement and slipping i
