He actually hung up on her.
Damn it, isn’t this kind of thing faster over the phone? But whatever, she went back to texting him.
“What do you mean we can’t get divorced for now? I seriously don’t get it. Let’s just meet and talk this out—when are you free?”
On the other end, Edward stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, staring at the text with a dark expression that was hard to read.
He couldn’t stand the thought of Alice and that guy being together. Hell, he even had the urge to take the guy out altogether.
But even with all that boiling inside, he still didn’t want a divorce. No clue why. He just didn’t.
His fingers flew across the screen typing something, but he hesitated, deleted it, retyped, and deleted again.
Finally, he sent one line with a blank face: “Give me some time. I’ll reach out once I’ve figured things out.”
Alice, sitting on her bed and seething, saw the message and blew up. She nearly stabbed a hole through her screen while replying.
