"No, Grandpa Sterling," Edward said firmly, "I don’t want a divorce."
He couldn’t really put his feelings into words right now, but there was one thing he was sure of—he didn’t want to end his marriage with Alice.
Walter Sterling frowned. "If you really want to keep this marriage going, how come you ignored her for so long? Don’t give me that ‘too busy with work’ excuse. If you care, you always make time."
Gerry Hawthorne, who had been watching Walter's reaction closely, stood up immediately, jumping in to criticize Edward without hesitation.
"Exactly! You didn’t know what you had, and now you regret it—what’s the point?"
Edward stayed calm, his eyes locked on Walter Sterling’s.
"You’re right, Grandpa Sterling. This marriage started because of you and Grandpa Hawthorne. Back then, I didn’t take it seriously. I treated her like a wife only on paper, thought providing a stable life and material things was enough to fulfill my role as a husband."
