Chapter 6 Chapter 6

Tracy stares at the paper in her hands, remembering why she thought Nadia familiar. The nerve of that girl thinking she can come, mess with her. An office is not really complete without grapevines. Trina decides to hint everyone about the highlight of the last party- the escapades between Nadia and the almighty Drew Sebastian, unfortunately, news in a corporate environment travels fast, causing the Boss lady herself to invite Trina into her office. "I heard you know something I don t, spill it" Tracy commands, giving Trina a penetrating stare. Trina is reluctant, but she dares not,?rebuff Tracy s request. Tracy sits through Trina s narration, confirming what she already knows. She looks her cool and calm confident self, but the flare of her nostrils and the clenched fist on the mahogany office table gives her fury away. Tracy dismisses Trina, with the flick of her finger, uttering not a word. She picks up the phone after the door closes behind Trina. "Pablo, inform Nadia to see me whenever she gets back." "Yes Boss," Pablo drawls in his Italian accent, not wishing to trade places with Nadia. Nadia feels the universe is finally shifting in her favor. She walks into the office, greeting everyone in high spirits. Trina greets Nadia as she enters the staff area, but could not hold her gaze. Nadia meets Pablo to talk about the schedule for the next event, but he didn t meet her eyes. What s wrong with everyone? Nadia thought but decides not to worry too much; she does not want her joy damped. Tracy walks into her office, and the first thing is to summon Nadia. She walks into Tracy s office with trepidation, wondering about the reason for her summon. Tracy glances up at Nadia as she enters her office. An ominous look on her face as she announces "From this moment, you cease to be our staff." Nadia was shocked and tries to plead her case but Tracy is not hearing any of it. She had no choice but to leave her office. Nadia was opening the door to step out, her initial mood taking a reversal, when Tracy threw a copy of the paper at her, landing at Nadia s feet, bending to pick the paper up, she was dazed by her picture staring back at her, she feels humiliated and disgraced, tears shimmering in her eyes she resolved in her heart to stay very far away from Andrew Sebastian. Bryant and Lovett Sebastian plan to give their son a surprise arrival. Both parents want their son to settle down, and they thought Tracy might be his choice, although they have their misgivings about her. But Tracy seems determined to hook Drew; the parents are watching to see how the drama unfolds. Sebastian Senior is proud of the way he raised his son, he is not about to influence his decisions he has raised him to have good judgment of people and of situations, which is the reason why he entrusts his empire to him completely, and he has no reason to complain instead he is happy for what he did so far. Bryant Sebastian stretches out his long legs in front of him, with the Newspaper in his hands. He feels so relaxed than he felt in a long while; the months spent in Europe did good things to his system. The front cover of the paper piqued his interest, the picture of his son with a beautiful woman, a mystery lady the press called her. Bryant smiles in amusement rubbing his jaw in reminisce of what his own youthful days were. Lovett walks on her husband in his amused state, peering behind him to what the amusement was about. "Is that Drew with a woman?" she inquires, startling her husband, who is now trying but failing to keep a straight face. "Oh God Lovett, will I ever get used to your sneaky movement?" Ignoring her husband, she places the fresh of fresh juice Beatrice just made on the table; she sits on the arm of the sofa her husband is sitting on, taking the paper from him to take a good look at the picture on the front page. "This is definitely not Tracy" she comments "Definitely not" her husband affirms. "I like her," she says smiling, "she seems different from Drew s other girls" "Lovett how sure are you that she is not some girl in need of our money and status" Bryant counters "Call it a mother s intuition," Lovett responds Bryant looks at his wife surprised at her words, she has never liked any of her son s acquaintance, not even Tracy. Bryant has come to respect his wife s intuition, in fact, she is strong support to him even in business advice, her intuition hardly fails, and once Lovett digs her teeth in something, she sees it through just a few of the many reasons he is still in love with his wife. Bryant is grateful that Drew takes after his Mum in that area. "Let s invite Drew in for Dinner," she says dropping the paper on the table taking a glass of natural juice from the table to give her husband. Bryant rolls his eyes and mutters under his breath. "And here we go" Lovett will make this her new mission. "Did you say something dear?" she asks of her husband. She has always wanted her son to settle down for a good girl that will help support him. She is a traditional woman, who believes that a good woman assists her husband in achieving his goals better and faster. So she knows a good woman when she sees one and right now she just saw a good woman who is likely going to be her son s wife. "No!" The man says as he continues to enjoy his glass of juice and the rest of the news. ************** Drew in his usual expensive suit saunters from the conference room, with his assistant in toll; he just concluded a meeting with the foreign investors on a proposed project, his phone beeps picking the phone it is his parents home line… "Hello mum, are you guys back?" he speaks as he motion instruction to his assistant in the folder he was holding. How are you son? Lovett enquires of her son. "Why didn t you call me to come to pick you up?" dispersing his assistant with the motion of his hands, the man left leaving him to converse on interrupted with his mum. "We thought to surprise you, and I will also like to invite you for dinner on Friday" Lovett continues before her son could say more. "Ok! Mum, see you on Friday." Disconnecting his call, his mind went straight to Nadia. The girl has been on his mind a lot these days, he decides to call her too, he didn t know why his mind went from his mum to Nadia but for whatever reason he likes it. Everything in his life is going well. Nadia walking pensive, wondering why fate likes to play a cruel joke on her, when she is getting to be happy something happens to taint her happiness, now she is back to zero points. How will she ever be able to save enough to fulfill her parents' dream even in postmortem? At least those two bright stars can smile at her from the sky her phone rings an unsaved number, she picks it and it is her current misfortune. Drew Sebastian. "How did you get my number?" she asks "I have my ways, and how are you today?"? Still talking Before Nadia interrupts "I m in trouble because of you; can you please stop calling me?"
