The paper on the floor was the same material as the stationery Erin had left him. He moved the notebook she hadn't finished using from the study to the bedroom and wrote nonstop for several days.
Time lost all meaning in that moment.
Mrs. Roberts tearfully said, “She doesn't want to see you at all. What good would it do to fill the house with apology letters? You should tell her these things in person.”
Emmanuel thought carefully and admitted that his mother was right, but he had already dug himself into a hole and couldn't get out. He raised his bloodshot eyes and insisted, “She'll understand. As long as I finish writing all of this, she'll forgive me. Oh, and I have to be sincere...”
