Chapter 9
*AURORA*
“I’m not spending the night here.” Lucien announced, indifferently.
Alma slammed her cutlery on the table, angrily.
“Where are you spending the night then? With that goblin? If you dare to leave the house, I’ll have someone get rid of her!”
Lucien glared at his mother.”You wouldn’t dare!”
“Try me.”
I grimaced and continued to eat, watching the drama as entertainment.
Even though I hated Carla and Lucien a lot, I didn’t wish any of them death.
I just didn’t want to be around either of them ever again.
However, I was still curious as to what Lucien could do for Carla though.
***************
Lucien and I had no choice but to retire to the same bedroom.
I was sitting on the bed while he was at the balcony.
He had been on the phone for almost an hour now.
Since he was loud, I happened to know that he was talking to Carla and he apparently was begging her to forgive him for not being able to go to her tonight.
Plus I could tell she was crying because he kept begging her not to cry.
I didn’t think a day would come when I would find this funny.
When I think about them before, knowing they were happily together abroad, I always felt like dying.
But now, knowing that he wanted to be with her right now, I just wanted to torment them even more.
I crossed my arms, suddenly upset that I never took up his offer to an open marriage.
Perhaps, if I had someone pleasing me while he was abroad with Carla, I would have forgotten about him sooner.
I suddenly recalled the man from tonight.
He was really handsome. Maybe I should have taken his number so we could meet up and get it done this time.
It was purely stupid being faithful to a man like Lucien.
My cellphone suddenly rang out.
I got it from the bedside table and saw that it was an unknown number.
Frowning, I picked up.
“Hello.”
“Aurora Sullivan.”
It was a man’s voice and it sounded oddly familiar.
“But I think I prefer to call you Aurora Diaz.”
“Who’s this?”
“Not fair, you forgot about me already? Is that how you treat your other sex-toys?”
My eyes dilated.
Could it be…
“Yeah, it’s me. The man you paid 10 million dollars to tonight. You left me in great shock, Aurora.”
I swallowed.
Why was he calling me?
“I don’t remember giving you my contact details.”
“There’s nothing I can’t find, Aurora.”
Why?
Why did he reach out to me?
“I don’t care how you got this number. Just tell me what you want. Wasn’t the money enough?”
He definitely wanted to blackmail me.
Maybe he found out who I was and he wanted to cause a scandal of a married woman going into a hotel with a man.
Even if I wanted a divorce, I still needed to maintain my good name in public.
Plus, this scandal could affect the Sullivans.
They loved me so much.
“Enough? I don’t know about that but I haven’t been able to stop thinking about you all evening. So I made my findings about you, you are married to Lucien Sullivan. He’s been abroad for three years and he just got back, plus, he’s openly involved with another woman who seems to be carrying his baby. So I’d like to assume you two are in an open marriage because how can you stay with a man who did that to you?”
My eyes dilated.
He knows too much.
“Don’t you think you know too much for a prostitute?”
His laughter sounded in my ears.
“Don’t call me that, sweetheart. I’m going to go straight to the point, Aurora. I developed a sudden interest in you tonight and I want us to meet.”
I scoffed.”Why would I meet with someone like you? You sound dangerous and I’m regretting ever getting involved with you tonight.”
“Dangerous? I can’t exactly deny that but I want you.”
“If you need more money, just say so. I’ll give you and you get lost.”
“I’m guessing you don’t really know who I am. If you do, trust me, you’ll be interested in me too.”
At that moment, Lucien walked into the bedroom from the balcony.
“My husband just came in, good night.” With that, I hung up thinking that would put him off.
Maybe convince him that I was in a good relationship with my husband.
Even if I doubted that because Lucien had always paraded himself with Carla.
But this man on the phone sounded creepy and I didn’t want to be involved with him.
How does he know so much?
We literally just met tonight!
He was even able to get my personal phone number?
“Who was that?”Lucien suddenly asked, snapping me out of my thoughts.
I glanced at him.”No one.”
“I heard you say ‘my husband’ so I deserve to know who that was.”
I scoffed and then felt like taunting him.
“My lover.”
“Your lover?” There was a hint of sarcasm in his voice.
“You said this was an open marriage, remember.”
“And you expect me to believe you really got yourself a lover. Oh c’mon, Aurora. You’re too obsessed with me to do that.”
I felt deeply insulted.
I had really made him think this low of me, that I could never cheat while he was shamelessly cheating with Carla.
Well, I felt regretful! But he was wrong.
I wasn’t obsessed with him anymore.
He grabbed a pillow and I watched him go sleep on the couch.
I rolled my eyes.
I didn’t want him on the bed, anyway.
I laid down to sleep but I couldn’t stop thinking about that man!
The phone call.
I could still remember his face.
He was very good looking.
What was his name again?
I shut my eyes, trying to remember.
Damon…
Damon Rivera.
My eyes flew open and I quickly grabbed my phone and typed on the name.
But none of the person with that name matched his face.
Did he give me a wrong name?
Goosebumps rose on my skin.
He wouldn’t cause any trouble for me, would he?
