Chapter 138
Edwin’s pov :
This banquet was supposed to be boring, but my cousin had given me a task—keep an eye on his wife and make sure no one gave her a hard time. Simple enough. If I did it well, I’d be spared from more torture at the company. A “reduction in sentence,” as he put it.
So, I was focused. Watching her every move, scanning the room for any potential threats—nothing got past me.
Unfortunately, that also meant I got caught staring.
"Hey, why do you keep looking at my sister?"
I coughed twice, quickly trying to cover it up. "Ahem, you misunderstood. I was just looking at the cake over there."
A blatant lie. But I wasn’t about to explain myself to Rey of all people.
I could see the frustration on her face, the way her expression twisted slightly. She was practically seething. It wasn’t hard to guess why. Every man in this hall had their eyes on Sophie. Rey hated that.
