Chapter 60
Dominic’s pov ;
Rinny’s message buzzed on my phone just as I stepped out of the meeting. "That little girl's parents came to cause trouble for her, and I've helped you solve it. But to be on the safe side, you still have to take action."
My chest tightened, and I called her immediately. “Is Sophie injured?”
My voice came out sharper than I intended, but I couldn’t help it. The thought of her being hurt made something primal stir inside me.
“No, don’t worry,” Rinny said calmly. “She had two friends who stood by her, so she didn’t suffer too much.”
Her reassurance should’ve soothed me, but it didn’t. My fist clenched around the phone, my nails digging into my palm. My face must’ve been a picture of fury because everyone in the office went dead silent. Assistants, secretaries—no one dared to look my way, as if my mood could explode at any moment.
I didn’t care. Ever since Sophie had almost fallen into danger before, I’d put safeguards around her. Clearly, they weren’t enough.
