Emily was a meek and kind woman. If she wasn't, she wouldn't have been oppressed by Cameron to this point.
Contrary to expectations, her personality was the reason Cameron couldn't bear to let go of her. If she'd been a shrewd woman, she wouldn't have been able to get close to him at all.
Emily lifted Cameron's hand away from her cheek. She scanned the condition of her ward and noted that it was indeed plain and simple.

He was probably not used to this place. He probably felt that too many people stayed in normal wards and that the place was dirty and unhygienic.
So, Emily looked at him and said, "You may go home."
Upon hearing her asking him to leave, Cameron held her hands. "You're unwell. Why would I go home? What if you feel unwell in the middle of the night? No one would be here with you then."
