Chapter 8

Meanwhile, Cillian decided to redecorate the home. Throughout the past few years, he and Tania were rarely home as he was often accompanying her at the hospital. Hence, he'd always felt that the home was lacking a little bit of life. But now, Catherine was moving in with them, and Tania was finally getting discharged from the hospital too. In a good mood, Cillian opened the door to the master bedroom. From the corner of his eye, he spotted a white envelope by the side of the bed. He was just about to check it out when his assistant, Brandon Scott, said from behind him, "Mr. Gessner, how do you want to decorate the guest bedroom?" "Hmm, let me have a look." Momentarily forgetting about the white envelope, Cillian left with Brandon to the room next door. Tania had initially planned for the room to be a nursery, but ever since she'd lost most of her uterus a year ago, she'd ordered for the room to be locked. And since then, no one had opened it. Brandon opened the door to the guest bedroom. The interior was still decorated in pink furniture. Cillian was stunned for a moment. Suddenly, he recalled how Tania had always wanted a daughter. However, Catherine had always been against it. No matter how much he had persuaded her, she'd insisted that all three embryos Tania had conceived were boys. "Mr. Gessner, should we change the furniture?" Brandon asked. Coming back to his senses, Cillian nodded. "Do it. Buy new furniture from Catherine's favorite luxury brand. Then, we'll custom-make the best cot there is." After taking note of everything, Brandon said with a smile, "You're going to have a son soon. You must be thrilled, Mr. Gessner." Cillian didn't deny it. "This has been Tania's wish for many years. Now, it's finally coming true." Just the thought that in ten months, a son who'd look like him and Tania would be born, cheered him up to no end. Throughout all these years, Catherine had caused so much drama, and he'd always had to comfort her. And at the same time, he'd had to hide things from Tania too. He was tired of all that. Now, he hoped that with the arrival of the baby, their relationship would be less tense, and there would be peace at home. Cillian looked at the time. "It's been an hour. Why isn't Tania home yet?" Brandon replied, "The nearest supermarket is half an hour away. It'll take some time to get the groceries. Not to mention, it's her first time there. I'm sure it'll take at least a few hours." Cillian nodded in agreement. "She hasn't fully recovered yet. She shouldn't be tiring herself like that. Run a hot bath and prepare the massage oil. I'll give her a massage tonight." "You really love her, Mr. Gessner," Brandon replied. "Of course. She's my only wife." Just then, Cillian turned around to see Catherine standing behind him gritting her teeth. "When did you arrive?" Cillian smiled, taking her bags and ignoring her obvious annoyance. "Cillian, I want a massage too. After all, we'll be living together from now on." Catherine looked at him with a subtly displeased look. Then, she clung to his hand and teasingly swung it around, just like she'd used to when they were children. "Come on, now. You're an adult." In truth, Cillian's patience had been worn thin from all the drama over the past few days. He promptly got the household staff to take Catherine's luggage to the bedroom on the third floor and said, "I've been indulging in your nonsense lately, and I've been forcing Tania to give in more times than I can count. "Shouldn't that be enough for you? If you ever bully her again, I won't let it slide." Catherine pouted her lips. She wanted to retort, but when she saw how serious Cillian looked, she stopped short, feeling a little apprehensive. In the end, she rolled her eyes and said with feigned concession, "Fine. Okay. I promise." Satisfied with her response, Cillian finally left. However, the moment he left, Catherine called the hospital and said through gritted teeth, "Get Tania Hemsworth back! Who allowed her to be discharged without her doctor's permission? "What? You said that the chairman signed off on it? It doesn't matter! Get her to go back to the hospital!" After hanging up on the call, Catherine sneered. Had Cillian seriously asked her to stop bullying Tania? No way! She was going to make sure that Tania was utterly ruined. Only then would Cillian accept her. As for Cillian—he'd always say that he was mad, but he had never truly punished her for anything. This thought sparked a sense of triumph within Catherine. She felt as if she had won against Tania again. With her anger subsided, she promptly had dinner and returned to her room. When she came out again, she had changed into a long and sheer silk robe. From the bottom slit of Cillian's study door, a warm, faint glow could be seen. Seductively, Catherine unbuttoned one of her robe buttons, revealing half of her breasts and a deep cleavage. Then, she loosened her belt too. Once she was done with that, she entered the study, saying, "Cillian, I brought you some dessert." Cillian was busy studying, so he replied without looking up, "Hmm. Put them on the table." But a moment later, what he heard wasn't the sound of a plate landing—instead, he felt a warm body pressing onto him. He said rather irritably, "Stop fooling around. I'm busy." He then turned to see Catherine half undressed. Her red lips were slightly apart, and she was close enough that her lips pressed against his. "Cillian, enjoy… your dessert." Catherine grabbed his hand and placed it on her breasts, but Cillian pushed her away the very next moment. He was truly annoyed now. Quickly, he got up and buttoned up Catherine's robe. Then, without saying a single word, he shoved her out of the study. Catherine, flushing with a mix of humiliation and fury, stomped her feet and said, "Cillian, I've already done so much. Don't you feel anything for me? What does Tania have that I don't?" Cillian's face darkened, but he remained curt as he replied, "You're only a sister to me. You're family. If you must compare yourself with Tania, then all I can say is that she's much kinder, stronger, and righteous than you are. "You do not compare to her in any way."
