Hearing him say that, she didn’t push further. She had planned to leave anyway, but because of the sudden attack, she ended up stuck here for another day.
“It’s really late already. It’s not safe outside around here. Just wait till morning to leave.”
“No, I have to find Jason.” Denise spoke firmly.
She needed to get out of here to get any news about him. With no phone or TV around, she was completely cut off.
She had no idea how bad the disaster had gotten. Surely, the news would be covering missing people and casualties, but she couldn’t even get the most basic updates.
“You’re injured. Get some rest. Tomorrow morning, you’ll see the person you want to see.”
“What do you mean?” Denise asked, anxious.
But the man was already wheeling himself out. The guards were still at the door.
She knew the idea of leaving tonight was impossible. But from what he said, maybe he really knew where Jason was—and maybe he was going to let her meet him?
That had to be it. Why else would he say that?
