"Clara, could you watch your tone? Don’t go around calling people a curse before knowing what actually happened," Margaret stepped in, her voice cool but firm.
Denise instantly felt a bit steadier. At least Margaret was still on her side. That was enough for now.
"I’m not lying though, am I? Otherwise, why’d she end up in Nathan’s room? Margaret, I’m just saying—you better keep your eyes open. She might’ve already fooled your son, and you’d be the last to know," Clara sneered, sharp as ever.
"Clara—" Margaret was about to argue when Eleanor suddenly cut her off.
"Alright. Everyone, get back to whatever you were doing. Clear out. Denise, stay. Come with me." Without waiting for a response, the old lady turned and headed upstairs.
Clara curled her lip, clearly enjoying the drama, and sauntered back into her room. The rest of the family trickled away quickly.
