"Sorry, I need to get home and cook, I don’t have time right now," Denise declined without hesitation.
She turned to leave right after she spoke.
"Wait, Denise! We’re still sisters, for heaven’s sake—okay, half-sisters, but still! Can’t you at least spare me a few minutes? I mean, unless... you're afraid of me? You know my life’s a mess now. What’s left for me to threaten you with?" Samantha called after her.
"There’s nothing left for us to talk about, Samantha. I’ve made that crystal clear," Denise replied flatly.
"You’re such a coward, Denise. I’m here to talk about the three of us. After today, you won’t hear from me again," Samantha pushed, her tone sharp.
