"Alright, alright, save it," the man cut Ben off mid-sentence, clearly not interested. He already guessed Ben was one of Jason’s guys, so whatever he said wouldn’t be the truth anyway. Not that it mattered – that woman must be Jason’s side chick or something. “Vice President, I just mean, this is the president’s office, so maybe you…” Ben didn’t finish, but the message was clear. “Damn it! Even a mutt thinks it can boss me around!” the man spat, and stormed out of the office. Denise had been standing in the hallway the whole time, not going far. She was waiting for Ben, hoping to find out where Jason had gone. From what Ben called that man—vice president—she figured he wasn’t the president, which meant Jason still held the title. That gave her a bit of reassurance. A moment later, someone stepped out. She thought it was Ben, but nope—it was that lunatic again. Still, they were in a public space. People were coming and going, so she doubted he’d dare try anything. He sidled up to her, w
