Marley quickly lifted her head, holding her breath. She couldn't see anything past a dark curtain. That meant Aiden couldn't see anything within. That meant he felt it, too. Right?
Marley heard a soft, almost inaudible sigh when she gently touched his palm. For a tiny, little moment, she let her hand linger in his, she let her eyes flutter shut, she let herself feel the warmth, the thrumming along her skin, the sparks. She didn't know sparks existed until Aiden. She didn't know love existed until him. She didn't know love at all, until Aiden Matthews. His arm left the curtain once she took the coins. Marley took shuddering breaths, but was quick to stand on shaky legs. She inhaled a deep breath for courage, swearing she could hear a simultaneous breath taken on the other side of the curtain.
