Chapter 5

Chapter 5 Nellie and Earl walk behind Charlie as they approach a crowd of Villagers surrounding the Rogue whim Charlie had talked about. He was beat up and left lying almost lifeless. Nellie was sacred. She wondered what would happen to her if the villagers ever found out that she was a rogue. She wasn't safe here, and she knew it. But running away would only arouse Earl's suspicions about her. She would have to be patient and find out whatever it was Earl wanted to do with her. 'Is this the rogue?" Earl asked with a tender voice and at once, the entire place fell quiet. All the villagers stared at him as he approached the rogue with a smirk on lips. He stretched an arm out and the rogue tried grabbing him with his teeth but stopped by one villager who hit him on the head with a stick. 'He's tough. But we'll see how he does when we set him on fire," yelled a passerby, and the entire crowd burst into an uproar of approval. Nellie couldn't believe what she was witnessing right before her very eyes. All her days of being an Alpha, she never handled the cases of rogues breaking into their territory. She would always leave that work to Bella and now, she knew what they did to rogues who dared cross the territory of an Alpha. 'Charlie, you know what to do to him. Let this serve as an example to the rogues who would dare cross me," Earl warned and cast his eyes on Nellie, who gulped at his words. She watched Charlie lift the rogue from the floor where he was and she immediately recognized who he was. He was one of the Rogues who had pursued her out of her pack and she knew they sent him to find her. 'Wait..." Nellie mumbled, and the crowd focused on their attention on her. It surprised Earl that she spoke up while amid the villagers, but what he didn't know was why she said something. Everyone remained quiet, waiting for her to speak until she realized the longer she stayed without saying a word, they would figure out she was a strange face in their midst and she had to think of a cover. 'Carry on. I thought I knew him," she lied and immediately walked back into the house. Earl followed behind her on his heels and caught the door just before she could slam it in his face. She slumped on the couch, and her hair covered her face from the world. Her heart was beating and she feel the blood drain out of her face. 'Are you alright?" Earl asked, sitting beside her and placing an arm on her thighs. She felt heart pulse rise as he did so and she wanted to so badly kiss him. She had gotten attracted to him after meeting him lifeless in the forest, and she couldn't get the thought of him out of her mind. 'What was that all about?" 'What was what all about? Be straight forward when talking to me, Nellie," Earl teased, but she wasn't in any mood for jokes. 'You threatened to set me on fire in the presence of the entire village. Who in their right senses does that?" Nellie asked as he sat upright and pushed her hair back to get a clearer look at Earl. He wore a smile on his face and was clearly enjoying whatever he was doing to her at the moment. Her wolf purred inside of her and she hoped and prayed that her wolf didn't want him as much as she did. 'I don't remember mentioning your name or pointing at you out there while giving my threat. So, what makes you think you are the one I'm referring?" 'Really, Earl? That's what you want to do right now. Play the dumb game. Have some respect for someone who risked herself to save your dumb ass from dying," she scuffs and stands to her feet. 'What's your name?" It froze Nellie to her feet as she heard the words come from Earl. She didn't expect him to take up interest in her name suddenly, and she wasn't prepared to tell him that as well. 'Why do you care? Besides, you're going to set me on fire just like you did to the other rogue," she replied and tries walking out on him, but in a blink of an eye, Earl was standing in front of her. She felt her heart leap, and she didn't know what to do anymore. He was proving annoying to be around every passing second, and she couldn't take it anymore. 'My name is Nellie, now could you please let me through?" she pleaded, but Earl wasn't listening to her. He was about to pull her by the arm once more but a knock on his door interrupts their little discussion and a man about Earl's height walks into the living room. He didn't dress like someone who had a high rank in the pack, and he certainly seemed lost from the way he took his time to look around the house. 'How may I help you good sir?" Earl lets a smile form on his face and approaches the man slowly. 'Um, I'm looking for the Alpha," the man said confidently, and Earl's smile beamed even brighter. 'Well, you're in the right place, good sir. I am the Alpha of this pack, Earl" Nellie looked at the man for a moment and gasped at recognizing who it was. The man stared at Earl and laughed softly. Earl was confused. He didn't seem to understand what was going on, but the surprised look on Nellie's face made him feel like she knew what was going on. 'I didn't know they allowed Alphas to switch genders, or am I looking at the wrong Alpha," the man responded, looking at Nellie with a smirk on his face. 'Ok, who the hell are you?" Earl asked, his fist clenched and his eyes burning with rage. 'Why don't you ask the lady over there? She ran away from us last night before we could even have fun," said the man as she tried to approach Nellie, but Earl stepped in between the both of them. He looked the man in the eye, and his scent became clearer to him. He was a rogue and he must have done a very good job of covering up his scent so that no one would notice him. 'What are you doing in my house, Rogue?" 'I'm just here to finish up what I started," said the rogue as he smiled at Nellie.
