#Chapter 63 A long path ahead

I watched Dylan step out of the cell with a lick of fire on his heel and death in his eyes as he locked the doors behind him. His gaze met mine through the crowd of crying children that didn’t know what else to do. All they had ever known was pain.
Dylan’s eyes softened when he looked at us. I held our son close to my chest, but he seemed confused that I was even holding him. He didn’t smile or cling onto me, he looked around at the world and up at the sky. He was so… silent.
Almost as if he was punished for having a voice. Suddenly, I wished I had hurt s lot more of the people in there. I wished I could stay around and wait for more to come so I could give them what they deserved. But it was much more important to get my baby far from here.
