Chapter 6

After she finished speaking, Yasmine approached Ryan and grabbed his arm, refusing to let go. Without thinking, she said, "We have not officially divorced yet. Since I'm still your wife, you have to cook for me. "I want to eat grilled fish and the grilled conches she mentioned. I also want water. Ryan, you can't leave me!" Seeing how Yasmine was taking him for granted, Ryan remained silent. In the past, he would have obeyed and gone to prepare food for Yasmine. However, now he realized how foolish he had been. This woman wasn't worth it! Yasmine grew increasingly hungry as she spoke. She licked her lips and stared at Ryan in displeasure. "Why aren't you cooking yet? I want fish, coconuts, and everything she mentioned! "Hold on, I am the one you are legally married to. I deserve better food than her! Ryan, didn't you hear me? Go get the food ready for me!" Halfway through Yasmine's words, Ryan suddenly chuckled. "What are you laughing at?" Yasmine's face darkened as she angrily asked. "I'm laughing at how you still can't accept reality. Yasmine, do you have any shame left? You've slept with another man, and now you're boldly ordering me around. "Do you think I'm your servant? Do I have to do whatever you say? Moreover, we're about to divorce when we go back. What does it have to do with me, whether you're dead or alive? "You've always looked down on me. Then grow a backbone and stop talking to me. Go catch fish and pick coconuts yourself. It's none of my business," Ryan sneered as he pushed Yasmine's hand away. "Ryan, how dare you!" Yasmine's face fell. Soon, a hint of panic flashed in her eyes. She looked up at Ryan in confusion. She didn't understand why Ryan seemed to have turned into another person in just one night. Still holding onto Ryan tightly, Yasmine licked her parched lips. "Since we're not divorced yet, we're still husband and wife. You have an obligation to take care of me! "Ryan, are you even a man? Regardless of anything, I'm still your wife. We've had a relationship. How can you bear to just leave me here like this? Where's your sense of responsibility and commitment? "Even if I cheated on you, it's just a small mistake. I've suffered as well during all these years we were together." She stood between Ryan and Nina, refusing to relent. Ryan observed Yasmine's demeanor. Suddenly, he slapped her across the face with a loud smack. Others were startled. They looked over with astonishment. Yasmine fell to the ground. She covered her face as she looked at Ryan in disbelief. Ryan coldly stared at her before saying, "Are you awake now? "Don't even mention our past relationship. It disgusts me. I've been the one earning money to support the family these years. I've been working tirelessly. How dare you say you suffered? "Yasmine, this is my final warning. From now on, we are not related to each other. Don't bring up our relationship again. "Don't even imagine that I'll care about you! We are strangers now. You are lucky that I haven't killed you. "Nina, let's go." With that, Ryan turned and walked toward the jungle on the desert island. It wasn't until they had walked some distance that Nina came to her senses. Dazed, she looked at Yasmine and Ryan before turning around and catching up with Ryan. Soon, Nina caught up with him. She walked side by side with him. Sensing Nina's gaze on him, Ryan calmly asked, "What are you looking at? Are you trying to see if I'm angry?" "Yeah, after all, you two were husband and wife. I'm afraid you might still have feelings for her." Nina shrugged. "Not at all. I've completely given up on that woman. She's not worth it," Ryan sneered. "So where are we going now? This doesn't seem like the same path as yesterday." Nina looked around and suddenly spotted a green lizard hiding among the branches. She nearly cried out in shock. She suppressed a scream and silently leaned closer to Ryan. Ryan noticed her movement and smiled slightly. He casually picked up a wooden stick and started clearing the path ahead. "You're quite smart. You should know that this island is in a tropical climate. There probably aren't any large wild animals like tigers, lions, or wolves here. "But there could be insects, lizards, snakes, and even venomous snakes," Ryan said. "I've never been to a place like this before. I wasn't expecting to see those creatures." Nina had turned slightly pale, but she remained calm. Ryan nodded approvingly at her and continued, "We slept on the ground last night. We were lucky not to encounter any snakes. "But luck isn't on our side every day. We could become bitten by a venomous snake. Without medicine, we would be doomed." "So, are you looking for a shelter now?" Nina reacted quickly. She immediately understood Ryan's words. "Yes, we need to find a safe place to sleep. Rather than calling it a shelter, it's more like a campsite. This is where we can sleep, cook, and ensure that the supplies we find won't be stolen by those people," Ryan said calmly. Nina nodded. The two continued walking and scanning their surroundings. They were searching for a suitable place to set up a camp. After a while, they arrived at a barren area with sparse wild grass. Nina pointed excitedly at two trees and suggested, "How about building a camp between these two large trees? We could make a treehouse." Ryan looked up at the trees and decisively shook his head. "No, climbing trees would consume energy. Until we find a source of fresh water, preserving energy is crucial for survival. Let's keep looking." After walking for what felt like a long time, they finally stopped when their energy was nearly depleted. Ryan surveyed the surroundings and nodded in satisfaction. "This will do." In front of them was a small cave. It wasn't very spacious, but it was enough for two people to live in. "This cave is elevated. We need to do some climbing. Also, there are no weeds around. Snakes and insects are unlikely to come here. Let's sleep here tonight." Nina looked at the cave in front of her and nodded without hesitation. She then asked, "Is there anything I can do?" "You can start by cleaning the cave. There might be bat droppings and mud inside. Get rid of those, then go find some dried palm leaves or dry grass to lay on the ground. We'll be able to sleep on them tonight." After giving his instructions, Ryan looked up at the sky. "It's still early. I'll go out and gather firewood for cooking tonight. I'll also see if I can find a source of fresh water." Nina didn't complain. She looked at her delicate hands and volunteered by saying, "I'll gather firewood. You go ahead and look for fresh water. If you can find some conch or food, that would be even better. I'm a bit hungry." "No problem." The two divided the remaining tasks, and Ryan immediately went out to search for fresh water. People could go without food for some time but couldn't survive without water. He could climb trees to pick coconuts, but climbing a tree would consume a lot of energy. It was only a temporary solution. Their priority now was to find a source of fresh water! Ryan stood before the cave and pondered briefly. He then followed his intuition and headed west. After taking a few steps, he heard footsteps behind him. "Nina, do you need anything else?" He turned around and asked, only to realize that the person following him wasn't Nina but another woman. He narrowed his eyes as he scrutinized the woman. She had always been quiet. So, she hadn't left much of an impression on Ryan. He had forgotten her name. "Who are you?" "I'm Freya," the woman shivered as she said. Her voice was trembling. "Do you need something from me?" Ryan continued asking. This time, Freya didn't answer. Instead, she reached out and took off her coat. Before Ryan could react, she removed her top and looked at him with pleading eyes.
