Chapter 12

Glenda shook her head, burped and looked down at her mobile phone again. Soon after, she dialed a number. Until the prompt tone of connection came from the receiver, Glenda said to herself happily, "I was saying that I'm not drunk, and the landlady didn't believe it..." The phone was picked up before the voice fell. Without waiting for the other party to speak, Glenda kept talking to her mobile phone, "Aunt Han? I'm Glenda... That, that... What did I say? Oh yeah, by the way, Hayden is drunk. Can you ask someone to pick him up... He's drunk and can't get up..." "Glenda?" there was a cold and low male voice on the phone. Glenda was a little confused as she heard a familiar voice. She looked down at the number displayed on her mobile phone and said to herself, "isn't this Aunt Han's phone?" After mumbling, the speaker seemed to understand something. Glenda turned to her mobile phone and said, "Uncle Han? I've drunk too much, um... I can't take Hayden home. I'm Glenda, Gu's Glenda, um... Well, my last name is Gu..." Finally, Glenda had forgotten what she was saying. She threw the phone aside and held the street lamp pole. At this moment, her consciousness drifted into sleep. …… When Joey rushed to the restaurant, he saw such a scene. Glenda, wearing a thick Khaki blue windbreaker, was sleeping soundly half leaning against the street lamp post. The windbreaker's erect collar covered half of her small face. Maybe since it was too cold. She hugged her knees and curled up into a ball. He could smell a faint whiff of wine on her even from a distance. Joey looked down at her. A moment later, he bent down and shouted, "Glenda..." Joey's voice was a little low. Glenda returned to sleep and didn't respond. Joey's long body squatted gracefully on the ground, and the clothes of his coat were laid flat on the snow, the black mixed with the white. He stretched out his hand and pulled down Glenda's collar on her face. Glenda resisted. He was stopped by her cold red hand. He muttered, "Harry, don't make trouble..." Joey's gesture paused and slowly retracted. He got up, looked down at her a moment later and said, "I'll call your grandfather and ask him to send someone to pick you up..." The word "Grandpa" came to her ears, and Glenda woke up halfway. She almost subconsciously hugged Joey's leg and begged, "don't, if my grandfather knew I was drinking outside, he might break my leg, don't..." Joey was completely trouble by her incessant pleading. …… Tidal Road, a villa. After Joey put Glenda on the bed, he untied her tie, took out her vibrating mobile phone from her trouser pocket and answered the phone. A gentle and pleasant female voice came over the phone. She said, "Joey, how long will you arrive? My parents, uncles and aunts are already waiting for you..." Joey rubbed his forehead, looked back at Glenda on the bed and said, "I'm sorry, Penelope, there's something difficult here. I'm afraid I can't get through it." There was no question from the other end of the phone, but asked in a worried tone, "what's the matter? Is it difficult to do?" "...." Joey didn't answer. "Well, don't worry. I'll explain to my parents here and take care of myself..." "Yes." Joey answered lightly. As Joey's fiancée, Penelope always had a good temperament, gentle, noble and perfect, so that people can't pick out any defects on her. Joey, 31, was repeatedly asked by his friends, "what do you like about Penelope?" To that, Joey always remained silent. He couldn't tell what he liked about Penelope, but he couldn't tell where she didn't meet the standard of being Mrs. Mead. Everything was natural and things developed naturally for them until they were engaged. Glenda turned over in the bed. She was sleeping in a bad posture. She bent up like a large shrimp. Joey put the quilt over her and turned and went out. …… Joey couldn't leave Glenda drunk like this here alone, so he pushed off the meeting between both her parents to talk about the wedding preparation. He sat alone in his study, smoking quietly, one by one. After a long time, he took the mobile phone in my hand. He hesitated for a moment, until he dialed a number …… It took a long time to get through the prompt sound on the phone before it was picked up at the other end. A slightly vicissitudes and deep male voice passed over, "Joey, what's the matter so late?" Indeed, the person on the other end of the phone is in Australia. According to the time difference, it would be late at night at the other side’s place. Joey took a cigarette and said, "brother, Glenda has returned home..." The male voice on the phone elegantly asked softly, "which Glenda?" "Felicity's daughter..." Joey said truthfully. The other end of the phone turned silent …… Glenda woke up as she sat up from bed, wanting to pee. She looked out of the window in a confused way realizing it was already dark. "Hayden..." Glenda shouted at the door, but there was no response. She thought she was sleeping in the guest room of the Hemmingway family. She scratched her messy hair and heavily shook as she got out of the bed. Glenda can almost touch the structure of each room in the Hemmingway family with his eyes closed. Simply, she didn't even bother to lift her eyelids, so she directly went into the bathroom. Glenda was relaxed after splashing water on her face. Just sitting on the toilet, she looked puzzled at a large Jacuzzi not far away and was a little stunned. When did the Hemmingway family even install such a luxurious bathtub in their guest room? Why didn't she know?
