At 5:00 am, Theodore finally took Isabella home.
It was going to be daybreak soon. Theodore asked her to get some sleep in the car, but how could she possibly fall asleep?
He reached over and took her hand. His palm carried a familiar warmth that dispelled some of the chill of the night. His gentle voice sounded in her ears. "Were you terrified?"
Isabella was lost in her thoughts, so it took a moment for his words to register. After a few seconds, she turned her head blankly with a trace of confusion in her eyes. "What?"
His tone carried a hint of helplessness and apology. "I'm sorry for letting you see the darkest side of the Sinclair family."
She stared blankly at him. His side profile appeared exceptionally clear in the dim light of the car. His features were distinct yet revealed a touch of tenderness.
She answered almost subconsciously, "It doesn't matter. Anyway, our agreement is only for one year. I'll be leaving eventually."
