“What!?” Aunt Lucy's incredulous exclamation reverberated through her room as she fixed me with a disbelieving stare, quickly superseded by a forceful grunt. “That bloody Wolfe!” She gritted her teeth. “How dare he!? Does he have a death wish?”
Sitting silently on the couch, I sighed inwardly. This was her reaction to hearing about Christian's deeds. Well, isn't it obvious? Any human in their right mind would react that way.
In fact, I'm still in disbelief that he saved his lover, even though she tried to hurt his own son. Was he truly that blinded by love?
“And you send him back with him, even after knowing what that woman did?” She frowned in disapproval.
