Chapter 12

While the blood drained from Lucas' face, a heavy thud sounded behind Katherine. Instinctively, she turned around. Liam was frozen in place a few steps behind her, staring at her in disbelief. "Kathy…" At his feet lay a shattered ceramic figurine. Katherine recognized it almost immediately. It was a piece by her favorite artist. She had adored it so much that it had been the first gift she had ever asked Liam for. However, he had said the figurine was just an ordinary ceramic piece with no collectible value. Yet, a few days later, Katherine had seen Ava post a photo with the figurine on her personal blog, captioned as a gift from a friend who doted on her. Looking at the shattered figurine on the ground, realization dawned on Katherine. Liam had deliberately bought something she liked and given it to Ava. As that thought crossed her mind, she arched her brow and glanced at Liam. "Did you take that figurine from Ava's place?" Liam blanched. "N-No… I bought you a new one…"
