Chapter 159 Still Upset
Jeanette asked the question calmly, her tone steady, calm and measured.
And somehow, that made it even sharper.
William's eyes flinched under her gaze. He didn't answer directly. Instead, he said quietly, "Grandma's condition has worsened lately. It's not looking good. Will you come with me to see her?"
Jeanette frowned. Cordelia? Could her talk about the divorce the other day have made her condition worse?
A pang of guilt twisted in her chest.
Ever since she married William, Cordelia had been the kindest person to her, treating her like her own granddaughter. Even now, Jeanette felt a strong bond with her she couldn't let go of.
She had to admit that she cared about Cordelia's wellbeing. Even knowing William was clearly trying to change the subject, she agreed, "When?"
Seeing that she wasn't pressing his earlier question, William visibly relaxed. "The day after tomorrow. Are you free?"
"I am."
"I'll pick you up then," he said, and with that, he hurried to his car.
